Intermittent fasting is also called periodic fasting, in which you have different time schedules. Would you like to know more about how intermittent fasting works and what the benefits are? Then read on!
How long does Intermittent Fasting last?
The most common is the 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule, the idea is that you fast for 16 hours in a row and eat normally for 8 hours. When you don’t eat anything for 8 to 12 hours it is called a metabolic switch, this means your body switches from burning sugar to burning fat.
There are also people who choose the 5/2 schedule of Intermittent Fasting.
In this case, you eat like a normal person the whole week, and you fast 2 days a week.
This will not be easy for everyone to keep up. If you find you can’t keep up with it, you can start by eating one small meal a day on the fasting days to get used to it.
What can you drink during Intermittent Fasting?
During the fasting hours or days of intermittent fasting, for the best result, we recommend to drink only low-calorie drinks. Such as: at least 2 litres of water, black coffee and tea.
During the 5/2 schedule, you can also choose to eat about 400 calories on the fasting days. Intermittent Fasting is therefore a good combination with Juice Fasting, see our range of Detox Boxes.
Can you lose weight with Intermittent Fasting?
The advantage of Intermittent Fasting is that it can lead to weight loss in the long run, because your calorie intake will be lower than the calorie need.
It can also lower your body fat percentage. When you don’t eat for a long period of time, your body can no longer get its energy from the fast sugars and carbohydrates of your last meal. Your body will eventually get its energy from your fat reserves. This makes you much more conscious of what you eat!
